How to change the default language (locale) of the System.

A place to ask all newbie questions and not get flamed, though you will get beaten down if you post a newbieish question outside of these walls.

How to change the default language (locale) of the System.

I want to change the default locale to pt_BR. I've tried to set the LANG var, but nothing happend.
How can I do this?

I need this advice also. :)
I need to change the locales to Finnish, keyboard and timezone.

Please don't post the same question twice. More work for those of us that answer them =)

Have a look at this:

I explained how to set your timezone there. You have to replace localtime and modify the clock conf (and restart clock).

Ok, TimeZone was easy. Just copy the
/usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Helsinki to /etc/localtime.
Also the "TIMEZONE="Europe/Helsinki" to /etc/conf.d/clock

But how to change the keyboard layout to Finnish?
