emerge dnetc

Post by TheClassic »

I downloaded dnetc-linux-x86-elf-uclibc.tar.gz from distributed.net I tried running "emerge dnetc" just to see what would happen. To my suprise, its doing something. It calculated dependencies and is emerging bind-tools. I am definately a newb, does anybody know whats happening?

Second, the contents of dnetc-linux-x86-elf-uclibc.tar.gz contain a binary executable, not source code. So I simply extracted the files. The executable won't run though. Whats up with that?

By typing its path. That's how you run ls and cd (they are in $PATH). Look in /usr/bin to check to make sure that you spelt the name of the program correctly.

most distrubuted computing stuff runs as a daemon have a look in /etc/init.d for a script and run it with
/etc/init.d/script start
If you keep an open mind, will your brain fall out?
