usb keyboard

i have a homemade adapter and i want to use my new usb keyboard in gentoox
but when i start gentoox the keyboard doesnt work. the numlock light doesnt even work.but when i try with my usb mouse at least the optical eye light is on but it still doesnt work.
i have tried the keyboard in my pc and it works fine.
could it be something wrong with the soldering or do you need to do anything in gentoox?
pls help

sounds like you may have soldered the wires wrong, if the light on your optical mouse is lighting it suggests the power is wired correctly, I'd check the +/- signal wires

thanks man it was the data cables now the mouse works . but the keyboard still doesnt work.
could it be because its swedsh? or perhaps what brand it is. what kinds of keyboards does people who got it working use?

My keyboard or wireless controller did'nt work until i ran magic, now they work fine. Have you ran magic.
