Put user-level access to /mnt/fatx/F in /etc/fstab. If you don't know how to use fstab, search!

E drive has the same fstab settings and F drive. i can acess E through the gentoox's filemanager but not F.

i changed the fstab for F to
and have been trying to chmod 777 it but it won't change it stays
drwxr--r--

/dev/hda55 /mnt/fatx/f fatx defaults,umask=0000 0 0

try unmounting the F drive, then chmod 777 the directory then remount it with the umask you have described.

Also have you run magic since you installed, out of the box gentoox will only let root access F
If you keep an open mind, will your brain fall out?
