what happens when you try to run xbvset?

If you say nothing I promise that I will never answer a single one of your questions again.

A helpful answer to the question would be "it gives me an error that says..." or "the prompt disappears and then nothing happens" or "it just drops me back at a prompt without doing anything"

Nothing is not an option.

Make sure when you run xbvset you
1. are the root user, you can tell you are the root user because the prompt will change from a $ to a #
2. type the whole command carefully in lower case

if you find typing tricky just type xb then press tab and the rest will be filled in for you.

I ran magic again and this time I answered yes to both questions.

let all night. I rebooted and was instructed to press enter to contine

and not to touch anything while magic works.

when it booted I entered the name root and pw xbox.

I'am now in terminal root, Xbox in red followed by root in blue and a #.

I typed in "xbvset"

I have 3 choices . this is an xbox v1.0 chameleon v 1.3.

composite

x2vga

HDTV

I'am using the xbox S-Vidio cable into the back of my tv S-video and 2

rca into the sound inputs.

I do not know what x2vga is. I do not have composite or HDTV.

and the screen looks normal. but I still can not find how to get back to kde.

What do I choose? The x2vga?

I never had any of this before running magic 2 times.

Please what do you suggest? Thank you...........

I now really suggest using the search button, you want your hand holding too much.

All the info about xbvset is on the site.

to get back to kde type tokde (yes it's all one word) at the prompt

I choose x2vga and was told invalid shutting down. and it shut down.

after running magic the second time my screen seem sized ok.

After the screen resized itself , I found the menu bar that pops up and choose to KDE and rebooted. on start up I enter root and xbox .

The next screen is "sessions menu" with only one selection

"Default/fail Safe" When I choose it the the screen goes blank and I have

to shut off the machine and thats all I get. What is supposed to happen?

What failed.

Is there a key I can hit on boot to have it boot to terminal?so i can run magic again?

Thank you.

I removed and reinstalled and ran magic from terminal.

It took all day, first time I got a full magic.

When it stopped I have this:

you have installed a new kernel. Also xvbset has been updated, which must be run before rebooting press enter to run to run xbvset.

I pressed enter. I have 3 choices :

Composite (which I don't have)
X2VGA ( I searched and could not find anything . the last time I choose X2VGA it ruined linux.)

HDTV (I do not have) So I'am asking because I have been searching and working on this for days & I do not want to make a mistake now.

Please tell me what to do.
