gentoox frustration

I've installed the latest gentoox and have found some things needlessly complicated.

Adding a new user for example. adduser? No such command, it's just a link to useradd which is a non-interactive command line version.

If you have this problem, try superadduser instead. Just be sure to add yourself to the audio group on creation, I can't figure out how to do it afterwards.

And where's the logout button on XFCE, or how do I turn it on?

And why doesn't any of the media players work if I'm not as root?
What groups do I need to be in?

Aside from that It looks great, I've installed my ADSL model thanks to the great tutorial here and am getting on with it much better than the bare bones debian. I just don't want to do everything as root.

I rebuilt to kernel to get my ADSL modem working, will this have removed some options? I can't run the screensaver or help, for example.

Any help would be great, thanks.

Since I recompiled the kernel the sound doesn't work, I get an error along the lines of 'cannot open device'. Is there a specific parameter I need to set on the menuconfig to enable the sound?

Thanks for the tip. I ran magic, and that sorted it out.

I kicked off vncserver and I can connect to OK on port 5801 to sort things out and my user and group settings are easily configured from webadmin on port 10000.

Still haven't figured out how to log out of XFce, and the sounds screwed up on flash animations.

It's a great distribution and easy to set up, I managed to install it on a 1.5 xbox, configure my modem, something I struggled with for too many hours on xebian before trying gentoox.

I think the flash screwups are to do with ALSA and the lack of a hardware mixer. Unfortunately, I dont have a fix.
