.AC3 file playback

Just wondering if there was anything special to do to play back .ac3 files - basically, 5.1 channel music files...
I know a few options have been found in some of the PC linux varieties with sb 5.1 cards... but can the xbox do it??

No man, NOT ac3 divx....
.AC3 files... as in.. music.ac3

I believe optical 5.1 was introduced via ALSA in the latest gentoox kernel update. There is an AC3 plugins for xmms, so couple that with 5.1 support and you should have a working solution?

errr... 5.1 is good, unless people are asleep and then you get yelled at.. and they dont want to know how long it took to compile the new kernel and that you are just testing it.. i should know... im a smurf
