Upgrading the kernel

Post by Chinny »

Is it possible to upgrade the linux kernel without breaking gentoox? I'd really like to use nitro's patched sources (plus the latest 2.6+ kernel would better support external tv capture cards)

I unmasked then emerged the latest xbox-sources and noticed this warning (not verbatim) - The FatX driver is currently horribly broken. Writing to a Fatx partition will corrupt it.

So I guess the 2.6 kernels are out of the question. However - would magic be compatible with 2.6 kernels (if they worked)? What kernels are? xbox-sources only?

Shallax keeps the kernel as up to date as possible. As soon as the 2.6 kernel becomes stable you will be able to update through magic.

emerge xbox-sources only sets you up with 2.4.24
