helping gentoox get an ip

hi, i saw terra posted a problem about her xbox not getting an ip from dhcp because gentoo got an ip based on the mac addy and the router wouldnt give the addy cuz the box was reporting that the mac was 0x00. (i'm not sure if this was the specific problem because i'm too tired to look for the original post, went to work at 9a and got out of class at 8:45p )

my solution was to go into my routers settings and tell it to statically give an ip to a specified mac address. my router solution looked like this


its wierd that this is a cheap 40 dollar router i got from a gamestop (video game store in usa) and my 8 port linksys router doesnt have this option. (not in a obvious manor anyways. maybe i have to upgrade the firmware?)

i hope this helped your and anyone elses problem. now i can use my xbox and pc on the internet at the same time. its great for those long emerge sync's
