But i must install over SSH, or not?just run magic and away you go
Because i got a scrambled Screen if i try to setup from Boot-CD.
So i think, focus chips are not really supported yet !
And the last news post from ShALLaX are fine but i don't use Cromwell Bios, i use Xecuter2 on a LPC v5 (only 256k)
What should i do with the boot cd?
Thanks for support

I do get it
the release version of gentoox home 3.0 doesn't support focus,
however gentoox, like gentoo, allows you to update continously as new patches become available (rather than having to wait for each release) this means you can start with gentoox pro 1.0 and run magic and end up with a system exactly the same as home 3.0 minus a few odd apps (openoffice for example)
If you try to install using a TV screen you won't be able to because it will be a garbled mess from the moment the stardust CD loads.
If you read the news Shallax has gentoox running fine on his Focus xbox without making any alterations to the original focus release that happened at the same time as HDTV.
get your stardust CD and put it in your PC then unrar distro.rar and put the contents on the root of your xbox E drive. Add an entry to evox.ini to boot gentooxx.xbe unplug your network cable boot gentoox then go and make a cup of tea. Gentoox will hang at intialising network then after a couple of minutes it will asign the ip address 192.168.1.13 and carry on booting, you can then plug your network cable back in ssh into the box on that address and set up a static IP and run magic, once magic has finished you will have a fully functional focus xbox with trendy overscan and desirable 640x480 resolution enjoy. As a final step if you want to be able to read the boot splash screen download the Cromwell/Xromwell package from the misc downloads section and replace your gentooxx.xbe with the Xromwell.xbe (you can rename it to gentooxx.xbe if you like)

If you keep an open mind, will your brain fall out?
I have a few questions:
1. Is there anyway I can download the magic patches and FTP them onto my xbox?
2. Does magic still work if I'm running from an unmodded xbox (IE evox)?
3. How do you change the IP address of the xbox?
4. Does the Cromwell/Xromwell package work without actually having the mod chip?

Your questions (in reverse order)
If you are using evox and you want to keep that way then use the xromwell.xbe
If you want a linux only box then you can flash the tsop with cromwell.
To change the IP address of the xbox under gentoox you read the network tutorial
magic works whatever method you use to boot your box so long as you have gentoox running
As far as I know (however I am often wrong) there is no way of applying the magic patches without being connected to the Internet, you certainley can't apply them by ftping into evox (if that's what you meant)

@nobspangle
I've download Gentooxx Pro and unpack the distro.rar to Root of E:
Then start XBox and SSH ... then i've start magic and select
emerge sync - yes
xfree - yes
KDE - no
xfce - yes
xvkdb - yes
mplayer - no
After Compiling finished i reboot the Box...
and i got a scrambled screen on TV (not HDTV) again, but can see Virtual Keyboard in Background.
I use the standard linuxboot.cfg from Gentooxx Pro Package.
Why the screen is scrambled after install too?
Should i try kde? or what for a command?
Thanks for your good assistance

atm i reinstall gentooxx because mplayer installation abort with a error.
linuxboot.cfg:
append init=/linuxrc root=/dev/ram0 pci=biosirq kbd-reset video=xbox:800x600,nohwcursor,hoc=X,voc=Y
is that ok?
next Problem:
i've got the error "Emerge failed. xfcepatch1 patch failed"
i try "magic fix xfcepatch1 && magic" or run "magic" again, but didn't work
After Compiling again ... same Error Message
What should i do?
thanks
