xbe loaders lock on first boot but not with m8 or cromwell

Post by cryogenic »

Both my 1.1 xbox's used to lockup on first boot at the first network activity since the change to force death. I always used gentoox loader.xbe to launch from a dash (did the same with xromwell too).
I use a fixed IP (same with dhcp)
Switch off and back on and it boots fine (if the fs is still intact).

I fixed it by using the M8 BIOS, boots fine everytime.
X3, X2 or indBIOS all lock at first boot with a loader on both xbox's.

A few months back I soldered on some more memory on one of the boxes.
M8 doesn't support 128mb natively (loader.xbe was fine and works with 128mb)
But i wanted the extra memory for xbmc / emu's etc also.
So I have to use a Gentoox / Cromwell BIOS to boot Gentoox which works fine. It's just a reall pain in the ass / dangerous for my wife or 4 year old to get into X3live navigate through the disk formatting / BIOS flashing / size screens or fiddle with tiny dips to change the BIOS.
Before I flash the tsop with cromwell (so I can hold the power button in to disable X3) or add a switch anyone have a workaround? Can I get the old ms network drivers back on?

Regards
