Well, that did change the resolution from a fuzzy 800x600 to a still fuzzy 640x480. The issue is that x2vga does not support interlaced (480i) output and requires it to be emitted in progressive (480p) mode. With Gentoox 2.1, the following thread was a tremendous help, especially the post by...

I too am in the middle of installing Gentoox 3.0c with an x2vga adapter, and faced with the fuzzy screen. In addition to getting the video back into 480p mode, since x2vga + 480i don't play nicely with each other, does anyone know how to set the Conexant chip to 720p for Gentoox? I think the new xbo...

Kadrim: Did you fabricate your own sync-splitter, from scratch, or is there a kit available. In my case, even with VGA support added, I don't think it will work with the x2vga box since it seems to be locked into the 640x480 resolution. I'm hoping a graphics engineer will rip one of these x2vg...

X2vga And Gentoox
Has anyone been able to get the new x2vga adapter with GentooX (or other Linux distribution) to go above the standard 640x480 resolution? Even at 720p, the resolution is still 640x480. :? Trying to work with KDE in 640x480 is pretty much painful since screen real estate is a precious commodit...

After further research I have found a viable workaround. I looked at the differences between a stock gentoox kernel startup, and the modified one removing the FB_RIVA driver. Edited for brevity with interesting parts bolded --- dmesg-virgin 2003-10-07 00:45:06.000000000 +0100 +++ dmesg 2003-10-06 23...

I am using the Neoya x2vga adapter. There is a glitch with the nvnet driver when you compile your own kernel. The steps that I used: 1) Boot up to EvoX 2) FTP up virgin files (rootfs, swapfs, etc) to /E/ 3) Boot GentooX 4) SSH into the (correct) IP 5) Get busy with the new kernel compile # cd /usr/s...

Resolved.
The problem was the gentoo 'stable' version of 'unrar 3.10'.
I downloaded the current 3.20 version from:
http://www.rarlab.com/rar/rarlinux-3.2.0.tar.gz
and used: rar_static
All is working great now.

Greetings... Below is the typescript from my preliminary validation and testing of the latest downloadable RAR image from the following mirrors: 1) Aleron 2) UNC 3) UMN All downloaded images resulted in same error... I tested with both Linux rar, and for kicks, WinRAR (latest versions for both)... S...
