yeah i'd followed the gentoo, howto, but it was missing info on the CC=distcc as if you didn't need to add it.

do you have the line CC="distcc" in you make.conf per chance??

if i want to remove kde what is the best way to get rid of everything?

just a quick question, its seems to all work great but i could only get distcc to run when i added

export CC="distcc"

did you have to do that as well?

is anyone else using distcc http://distcc.samba.org/ seems like a great way of speeping up compile time

i noticed shallax said that when he recompiled everything he got a big performance boost.

I was wondering if I run ‘emerge -e world’

1. how long would it take
2. would it gain any performance
3. would it break anything

I used 007 and the Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader_V1.3 (from #xbins)

I installed the loader so it was booted by bert and ernie.

Now I boot straight to evox and from there load gentoox.

Does that help? let me know if you need more info.

i realise i can put the Loadled script anywhere but i was wondering is there a recommended place for it?

not saying it's right or wrong but that got me there too.

well i've got my box up and running all sweet, apache, mysql, ftp, ddclient oooo i'm so happy, just ordered some xbox to female usb adaptors from lik-sang and was wondering is is possible to get a webcam up and running on the xbox, if so is there a decent gentoo package avaiable to use the cam? thanks

thought you might say that i've opened some of my xbox's but i was trying to leave this one in a virgin state.

oh well, i played with blink and made the light a constant green, that will have to do.
