Im using up to now an xbox with gentoox happily. i just tried to install it to another xbox, but there was a problem. maybe the repo is too old? i cant use the new kernel and so on. are you going to update shallax? or is your work with gentoox done. possibly theres a chance with the xbox360....

Ive got the problem the other way round. Im runnin the xbox as a server Naslike for files and i want to set up a network printer via samba.
But it doesn work. i used the foo2zjs drivers, foomatic. but foomatic is not on the gentoox tree i think.

I'm very sorry for getting on your nerves.

Finally I made it and I've got a cheap NAS-xbox at home.

I downloaded gentoox pro (I might've better chosen home) followed the instructions for the fully native installation, it worked, finally and now it doesn't emerge samba, because of missing dependencies to x11. Bur i took pro for not having x11 or any xserver. I...

I would try the howto: fully native cheesyboofs gave, with me it worked fine.
The problem you got with the rootfs file might be the same i've hab with the fireftp, it cannot ftp more than 2gb. i changed to flashfxp and it worked!

One more thing:
Can someone tell me how to fix rebooting/haltin when using a modchip? Its not important, but would be useful...

now I could answer some of my questions myself. Im happy I managed setting up the xbox server like chubbyboofs (dont know if its right) showed in his tutorial.
I have to get more into gentoo and the use-flag system, because he wont install samba.
