why not transfer the stuff taking up space on the e drive to the f drive and do the simpler gentoox install on the e drive?

w/ -r: cp: cannot create regular file 'filedestination': invalid argument cp: setting permission for 'newfolderonfatxe': operation not permitted i noticed today on bootup that instead of [ok] for one line i had [!!]. it was something like /dev/hd55 module not found. is this related to not being able...

using -avx yields:

'path' -> 'destination'
'filepath' -> 'filedestination'
cp: cannot create regular file 'filedestination': invalid argument
cp: failed to preserve ownership for 'destination': Operation not permitted

first of all, thanks SO much for all the help. it's very very much appreciated.

i'm trying to copy /home/gentoox/Desktop/New to my e drive

typing:

cp /home/gentoox/Desktop/New /mnt/fatx/e

yields:

cp: omitting directory "/home/gentoox/Desktop/New"

also...how do i know which IP has been assigned.....is it the one that is shown at the end of the system messages right before the dashboards loads on gentoox boot?

i can also access drive e from the filemanager. i just dont know how to transfer files from within linux to e:\

is there somewhere a list of commands for proftpd. the only things i know how to do are start it 'proftpd' and see how long it's been running/who's on it with 'ftpwho'

i also dont know how to edit my .conf files to configure the server

emerge proftpd

emerged successfully.

open up xtem type 'proftpd' and i get an error

logged as root and run 'proftpd' nothing happens. you can hear the cpu working, but then it just goes to another comman line.


any help or links to help is appreciated

Transfer files from within linux to hdd e:\my folder

is it possible to transfer files from withini linux onto the hard drive into a folder like e:\foldername so that the files can be accessed outside linux?

thanks for all the help. it's really appreciated. using 'locate bittorrent' yielded only things used for emerge. it shows nothing that has been installed. yet still when i run 'emerge search bittorrent' it shows that the lastest version installed is 3.3.0 any other suggestions? should i uninstall it...

hey, you have to tell mozilla to link *.torrent files to bittorrentgui.sh or whatever the name is, i don't know if it's as easy with mozilla firebird though, check usr/bin for it i forget exactly where it is i'm just reinstalling it now, i had it working great on my old setup though :) how to you g...
