My point was that my previous native xebian install works with 6.05....... OK understood. Sorry I don't understand your DHCP problem. That's the same text as my /etc/conf.d/net. It probably doesn't help but I had the oposite problem I couldn't get a static IP working. I could communicate via the co...

answer: probably not as far as disk size.

I had trouble formating a whole 400G drive as one partition (reiserfs). But then why would you want one 400G partition ? I had no problems with partitions up 250G but I didn't go higher so I don't know what the prtition size limit is.

raid questions

I have gone native with 2 x 400G drives (thanks to Cheeseyboofs' excellent tutorial). Now I want to try and run the drives as a raid 1 (disk mirror) NAS. http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/wiki/index.php/Quick_HOWTO_:_Ch26_:_Linux_Software_RAID From searching this forum I have come to the conclusion...

I feel positively self righteous !!!

Thanks once again.

I am planning to replace the single 10G with 2 x 250G + drives and apply some RAID and automatic back up software.

Anything I need to know ? Apart from read the instructions !!! hehe

Hi cheesyboofs Very good tutorial. To anyone doing this for the 1st time please take heed of Cheesy's "word for word" warning. I got the "Mounting /mnt/hda2/rootfs on /mnt/loopback failed: Not a directory" error. I couldn't sort this out no matter how many times I typed this line...

In case anyone else comes across the hardware time issue

http://www.linuxsa.org.au/tips/time.html

basically set the software clock using date then run

sbin/hwclock --systohc'

to sync the two clocks

NTP and time

I am new to this so sorry if you think I should know the answer. The Hardware clock on my xbox is not set to the correct time/date. Although I do have a mod chip which is supposed to allow you to use the xbox bios (by pushing the eject button to power up) it doesn't want to work. I don't want to get...
