each time you restart rtorrent you have to add the torrents by hand again. you may however always start rtorrent with all the torrents as parameter => this way all the torrents will be loaded on startup. screen is a really mighty tool, just the tool i needed.
rtorrent now runs succesfully even if i exit ssh connection.

(sorry zlasher haven't tried the nohup option => will remember that command for other programs )
