no doubt that gentoox is cool, but I think there is some misplaced sentiment about the gentoo developers. I think they are going to be most interested in creating an architecture that complies with the gentoo approach, wheras gentoox has enough customizations that it's a little too different to fit ...

so will gentoox development end?
just curious, if it ended would the donated xbox's and laptop etc be sent to the gentoo developers? god, I just hope someone can figure out how to make an external usb hdd work consistently. .. but anyhoo, it seems like the two projects could coexist, just like ed's distro is already out there. and ...

I had my external hdd working in the past under 2.x as well. i recently upgraded to 3.x and have not been able to get the external hdd to work, although external cd-rom works fine. I forget what I did under 2.x to get it to work, but I remember doing some stuff w/the kernel. So.. any tips on getting...

*sighs...* yep, It's a bug with the v3.0 gentoox.xbe loader application. i have to unplug all my usb devices at boot to avoid the hang. For this reason, I only use that app when running vga (it does some initiallization for vga mode that I need). When connected to my tv, I just use the gentoox.xbe f...

yeah, I know he's a student and all that, but it's been a long time since the last release, so maybe the new version is not far off? Maybe it's almost done? Maybe a new version isn't planned for the near future? I was just trying to get a very rough idea of where the 'product' is in the 'release cyc...

A quote taken from the topic you are duping: Quote: wonder if Gentoox 3.1 is going to be released with KDE 3.2 (released February) Your quote just further illustrated the difference between my post and yours! LOL! Your post was about features to be expected in the new release, wheras my post was abo...

Dreaded question: When is 3.1 coming out?
I have 3.0c but it doesn't work for me. I did get to work at one point after a lot of dinking around, but then it died due to some swap file corruption and I tried to reinstall two different ways without success. Even if I did get it to work, there are so many magic this, magic that updates that it ...

terra, as far as the video resetting by your windows manager.... did you comment out all the references to xbv in your /etc files? I just did a: cd /etc grep -ir xbv * to locate any references, then I edited the files and commented these. ** you may also want to check through your home directory for...

I recommend recompiling the kernel, but add vga text console support, and remove the xboxfb support. Do not add the rivafb support. Then edit local.start to prevent xbv from running. This tested out great for me on HOME 3c . I had trouble with the windows manager so I'll be going back to the tried a...
