Getting 800x600 to work will come later. Right now the primary focus is working out the details and logistics for including support into both Cromwell and the Linux Kernel. I've been in contact with Lehner Franz (Cromwell BIOS) and Oliver Schwartz (Conexant drivers). Neoya has also graciously offere...

Progess has been made as I have just finished dialing in the horizontal timing. The right edge sawtooth shearing has been completely eliminated. I have uploaded version 1.3 of my x2vga_mode.sh script. http://www.virginvinyl.net/xbox/x2vga_mode-1.3.sh After running the script, you may have to press t...

Yes, there are two ways: 1) hack the lba48 partition code. Look in the following directory, as in my case I use X2-4977 bios XBtool\Patch Data\4977lba48 You would need to hexedit that file and manually adjust the partition values, then flash it into your modchip. This requires a good grasp on the lo...

Yes, that is correct. A 160GB drive would be a nice fit. My xbox has a 200GB Maxtor drive (for DVD dumps), and getting GentooX off the loopback has led to a dramatic performance boost. Especially if you are still using KDE which hits the loopback partition hard. I now use XFCE4 (Thanks ShaLLaX!), wh...

Hello, welcome to the GentooX forums. I can handle one of your questions. The only real way to get the best of both worlds: 1) xbox as gaming machine (FATX partitions left intact) 2) xbox having one partition formatted as ReiserFS dedicated to GentooX In your case, you cannot do that with a 120GB dr...

SUCCESS: x2vga + 480p + xboxfb
Ok, I will not call it a _complete_ success, as there is a very small thin vertical line of waviness on the right edge of the screen. This is where I need some help in fine tuning this. It is now down to half an 'X'. :) What I will say is that I am darn close, and still using the new xboxfb, instead...

Grrrrr. detroit, how are you able to get this to work with GentooX-3.0 using the method you did before? I have found that the new 'gentoox.xbe' fries the video on startup by resetting the video. I used the old GentooX-2.1 'gentoox.xbe' and it did not reset the video, however it also would not...

Your next stop should be to consume:

More filling *and* tastes great!
Also, make sure that you and Google become Zen, since a lot of linux is cross-referencing, correlation, and distillation of abundant quantities of diverse information.

I think the best solution will be to get the Conexant chip to push out in 480p mode. I have the Conexant register dumps for when it was in 480p mode, and now the 480i mode. I am not sure how ShallaX would feel about posting up both dumps into this thread as they are a bit large. If he wants to keep ...

Large hard drive LBA48 users Beware
If you were using a F: drive (/dev/hda55) that was greater than 137GB, then you will find it no longer works correctly in GentooX 3.0. There was a change in the Linux kernel between: Linux 2.4.20 - used for GentooX 2.x series Linux 2.4.22 - used for GentooX 3.x series Actually the change occu...

Gentoox Home Edition v3.0 - Xine overload
It appears there are one too many xine packages installed: # epm -qa | grep xine-lib xine-lib-1_beta12 xine-lib-1_rc2 Running: # epm -Vv xine-lib-1_rc2 checks out fine Running: # epm -Vv xine-lib-1_beta12 fails the MD5 hash checks Is there a reason these two xine-lib packages are installed? Thanks. ...
