Hi there.
is it possible to compile and run gps drive??it's a linux gps positioning system

i think it might be possible but am i able to hook up a gps usb receiver ?

any1 got an idea??

simple answer: yes , gentoox has excellent usb support and pretty much all usb devices work natively in linux without the need for a 3rd party drive , gps devices are just dummy serial devices that relay info to whatever process is looking for it at that time so I don't see any problems with it working out of the box...

not simple answer: depends , all companies make their krap different , you never can be 100% sure if something will work untill you plug it in and watch what syslog spits at you..

afaik is there a standard protocol that is used by every gps dongle, and gps drive supports it.
but i didnt had the chance to test it .i will give it a try

gpsdrive is available in portage so you can install it by doing
emerge gpsdrive
