Thermal Security v1.6

Okay, my first post here! :wink:

I'll come straight to the point:
HOW does the xbox v1.6 responses when it is having a overhead, when it has no sensors? How can it feel that? No thermal protection? Does it just shut off?

I want to know what the temperature is of my v1.6 box. Is there a way (e.g program) to do this IN linux? Out of some topic's i've heard that's not possile.
Is it?

There probably are sensors, but we just either don't know how to access them or can't access them via software. v1.0 -> v1.5 all had sensors accessible on the i2c bus... however, these seem to have disappeared in the v1.6!
