Magic ONLY updates the loader on your hard drive - it doesnt reflash your chip. To update your chip, you will need to download the Gentoox Loader package and flash manually.

Err? Who said anything about a folder called tsop:S?
And no, you cant login to FTP by root. That leaves you one option.

I guess you need to edit /etc/raincoat.conf to add the manufacturer id then.

because in the doc's they say Installation
+ Copy 'loader.xbe' to E:\gentooxx.xbe (/mnt/fatx/e/gentooxx.xbe)
+ Flash 'loader.bin' to your TSOP/ Modchip (raincoat -p loader.bin)

I still fail to see what that has to do with a directory called "tsop:S"

because it get this
Raincoat v0.5 Gentoox Edition -
http://gentoox.shallax.com - v1.2 support
Reading /etc/raincoat.conf... (note, raincoat only supports 31 flash types, rest ignored)
31 flash types read
UNKNOWN DEVICE manf=0xAD, dev=0xB0
Try adding the device ID to /etc/raincoat.conf
