Weird Networking Problem

Hello,

I have configured Gentoox to static network addresses. I can ping my PC, the router, and internet sites.

However, when using the Konquerer browser, I cannot receive information from the outside. The browser indicates that the webite was contacted, but the browser waits forever for a reply.

BTW, I am using XBOX - ICS PC(1 NIC + 1 wireless card) - Wireless Router. Everything works with Xbox Media Center, Linksboks but not with Gentoox.

I am sure there are some smart people here who know what's going on here. I have been scouring without success.

It looks like there is a connection to the internet; however, the return packets from certain ip addresses will not be received.

I.e.

http://www.google.com resolves to 216.239.39.99. No return packets are received.

google.com resolves to 66.102.7.99. Pings are successful with this IP.

This is as far as I have gotten. Please shine some light on this.

google is mirrored across the world some mirrors will have routes that allow a ping some don't, you will get a different response depending on the time of day /part of the world you are in.

With the NT computer, it works. Seems that certain URLs just don't work like http://www.google.com, mail.yahoo.com.

Sites like http://www.craigslist.org, http://www.mozilla.org, etc work.
