Keyboard Weirdness...

I just decidid to try the newest version of gentoox home. I used to run an older version awhile back and it worked perfectly. Now with the new version my keyboard will not let me press the backspace or the shift or the ctrl keys. I went into my rc.conf and XF86Config and changed the layout to "us" instead of "uk", rebooted... same damn thing. I'm using the same exact keyboard I used with the older version and it worked just fine before. This a wireless keyboard that is very similar to a laptop keyboard. Any ideas guys?
