Can't connect to the internet.

Post by Superj159 »

hello
i've just installd the latest version of gentoox home edition. but i can't connect to the internet. i've been searching and searching on the site and tweaking all the settings but nothing works.

this is what i know: it's not a router problem
because a. all other computers are getting internet and
B. when i boot the same xbox to XBMC i do get internet.

here are some details

ip of router/modem (build in router): 192.168.1.1
gateway: same
dns1: 192.168.1.1
dns2: 0.0.0.0

ip main computer connected trough a upt cable with the modem/router
: 192.168.1.10
ip main computer connected wireless: 192.168.1.11
(yes these are the same computers) both are static

2 other computers wireless dhcp

and the xbox also connected trough a utp cable with the modem router
ip: 192.168.1.14

i've try'd dhcp on the xbox, static, reinstall of linux nothing works
but i can get to the main computer with no problems FTP, HTTP
i can ping google (only it never seems to stop pinging)

plz help

Please look over the Gentoo Linux Installation manual for Networking

If you set your xbox to dhcp you shouldn't have any problems getting connected to the internet.
