SSH?

I'd never even heard of SSH before I installed gentoox today. I have a focus encoder and it kind of freaks out and flashes a bunch when first loading, and there is a tutorial here telling how to fix it, but it involves SSHing into the xbox, and i downloaded some ssh program from downloads.com, but I can't figure out how to connect to the xbox or do whatever it is I'm supposed to do. Can anybody help me out here?? Thanks in advance.

orochi, I have used puTTy before, but only briefly. I tried penguinet and it seemed much eaier to me, have you ever used it? If so does putty have more/less features?
