I didn't know where else to post this thread, so here I am in the Newbie section...
I want to use Gentoox as an FTP server. I can connect to it just fine if I use its 192.168.x.x address. When I or someone else tries its true IP address that is used by the Internet, the FTP client displays the following output (IP address is censored):
Status: Connecting to 68.x.x.x ...
Status: Connected with 68.x.x.x. Waiting for welcome message...
Response: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.9p1
Error: Timeout detected!
Error: Unable to connect!
Any ideas? Any constructive input is appreciated.

do you have a router. Have you setup the forward addresses.
duh.. I should have known that seeing your 192.x that you do have a router setup.
you need to forward the ftp port on your router to your xbox address.
hope that helps,

Do you have any firewall software installed on the xbox that might be blocking port 21? The response in your ftp shows:
Response: SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.9p1
What ftp client/server are you using? If you're trying to connect with ssh instead, have you forwarded, disabled firewall on, and made sure ssh is listening to the ssh port (22)?
