problem emerging proftpd

ok about this time yesterday i told my xbox to emerge proftpd and i waited untilabout an hour ago to check it and i noticed it was still going so i sat there and looked at it and to my surprise it was looping the same check stuff over and over again...

has anyone had this problem and how can i fix it

please help me :P
