connecting via hostname

I'm running pro 1.3 on my xbox.
I've set the hostname viaa the hostname file, and it is definatly set.
I'm running the xbox of off ICS from windows XP pro and I'm using DHCP.

Everytime i restart the gentoox , DHCP gives it a new IP address.

My problem is that I cannot connect or access the xbox via its hostname.
The IP address works , but it always changes meaning i have to look at the xbox screen to figure out my IP.

Anyone know how to get hostnames to work with ICS?
