What file system do people use on their linux machines?

Flicking thorugh the server stats I saw Shallax uses ext3 on his server xbox. Where as gentoox, by default, uses reiserfs.
What are the reasons for choosing between reiserfs and ext3?

Yep, good question. I would like to know as well.

I have a native install of Pro and it formats the F drive in Reiserfs. I had a power failure a week ago and when I started my server up again it was trashed. I guess as it was not shutdown correctly?

Okay, I am gonna ask a stupid question. But what does xfs have to do with the legality of content?

I just want to use pro for an apache web server. If that is the case, what is the most resilient file-system for that type of use.

For backing up, having it set up to use loopback with a rootfs is very easy if things go wrong. But I am not sure on the performance hit doing it this way.

As Pro 1.1 is on the way, any help before I set up a new drive would be very welcome.

Cheers

I think trogdor is saying he would use XFS if he was going to download songs and movies. The reason why he doesn't download songs and movies is because it is illegal, not because of XFS.

Nothing. XFS is just good for big things like that, just like reiser is good for small things. I don't d/l songs or movies, cause I don't like them that much. (and they are illegal </obligation>)
