UnrealIRCd

Post by padawan » Sun Feb 08, 2004 7:42 pm

Hi guys :D

it's me again :(

this time i wanted to setup UnrealIRCd which I could use for the next LAN i go to :P

so i did "emerge unrealircd" as su and it installed the stuff all right. but now now when i try to start the server with "/etc/init.d/unrealircd start" this comes up:

Code: Select all

root@Xbox networks # /etc/init.d/unrealircd start
 * Starting unrealircd...
 _   _                      _ ___________  _____     _
| | | |                    | |_   _| ___ \/  __ \   | |
| | | |_ __  _ __ ___  __ _| | | | | |_/ /| /  \/ __| |
| | | | '_ \| '__/ _ \/ _` | | | | |    / | |    / _` |
| |_| | | | | | |  __/ (_| | |_| |_| |\ \ | \__/\ (_| |
 \___/|_| |_|_|  \___|\__,_|_|\___/\_| \_| \____/\__,_|
                           v3.1.5.1-Valek

* Loaded networks/random.network ..
* Loaded networks/unrealircd.conf ..
* Loaded badwords.message.conf (message filter words) ..
* Loaded badwords.channel.conf (channel filter words) ..
* Dynamic configuration initialized .. booting IRCd.
---------------------------------------------------------------------     [ !! ]
This has happened wth both the default conf file that i used (and only changed a little) and also the selfmade one.

The first error that I had - before this one- I could solve by myself, it was that the service demanded a user "UserBah" which was defined in "/etc/conf.d/unrealircd".

I changed the entry in that file to UNREALIRCD_USER="gentoox" and set also the permission to unrealircd.conf in "/etc/unrealircd/networks" accordingly (chown, chmod).

I have no clue what else I could do to make this work and hoped that maybe some of you guys have some more experience and could maybe help :)

I didn't see any unrealircd forum, otherwise i'd have also posted there :oops:

Unemerged that package (emerge -C unrealircd) and installed the latest version (Unreal3.2-beta19) by hand. Much better as they got a nice installer and you know what's already done ;)
