compile time PyQt on a normal xbox :s ?!

Post by Skunkalaxy »

I've started compiling icewm (already finished) then the icewm-tools, my box started compiling PyQt and is still (after about 2 days now :?) busy compiling. I read the other post on the forum about this, and I know it takes a while, but 2 days !!! Is this normal?

I also noticed that only about 0-30% of the cpu is used? according to the cpu stats in xfce (blue vertical line). How come it doesnt compile faster and use the remaining 70% of cpu power?

This is normal, and probably cpu usage is low because of lack of ram - i.e. it has to keep swapping so the cpu has to keep waiting. *Shrugs*

ok, thx.
Now I understand why it uses 90% of my swap space and 80% of my RAM.

ok, as an info to others: emerging icewm-tools takes about 3 days. (at the moment not the full 3 days, but my box still has to compile some dependencies)
