emergeing problems

when i emerge things they dont seem to work... well i got a few things to work wonderfully but i cant seem to get the quake to work or the duke3d.... are there special files i need to run these programs?? it give me errors but i dont understand what they mean, except for the 1 where it says it cant find Xfree,(which i do have and i dont know y its not seeing it)

any help would be tight..

nope, i can get it to emerge but i cant figure out how to run the program
