Installing GentooX Home 6.2 to G Drive

Post by 007bond »

I want to install GentooX Home 6.2 on my Xbox using an FTP installation. The only snag I have is that I want to install it onto my G Drive if possible. How do I go about doing this?

If I can't do this, installing it to the F Drive is still an option, but this would mean manually mounting the G Drive. How would I go about doing this?

In both cases, I already have a lot of files on both drives that I cannot afford to lose. Will there be any side-effects when installing GentooX to either drive, or when I use them as mount points?

Also, if I install GentooX to the G Drive, will Magic be in any way affected?

I know that I can access my Xbox network shares from Windows via Samba, but is it possible to do the reverse: access Windows network shares from GentooX via Samba?

If it helps, I am running a v1.4 Xbox with UnleashX as my main dash, but I also use XBMC quite a lot. I am unsure what BIOS I have. If I need to flash it, that is an option also.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

Your first post was oct-01. So what have you done till now.

I havent tried to install on G drive, but just follow the Ftp install tutorial document from the Gentoox Website. (tutorial section on the left )

Let us know which part you have questions and we would be happy to help

I haven't done anything because there aren't any guides for installing to the G Drive.
I tried searching the forums but couldn't find anything i could really use.
I don't want to try anything myself because I really don't want to risk screwing up anything on my Xbox. I'd rather have all the info before i delve in.

Nope, sorry. We're just a bunch of people that hijacked this forum and use it to talk about rubber chickens and vasectomies and other fun stuff =)

That's all well and fine, but I'm fairly sure that I've read somewhere that installing it to the G Drive requires some special messing around.
