Oh oh, power failure

Post by phumaguy »

Hey all,

I have this weird thing with my gentoox wich I can't figure out.
Today we had a power failure in the house and so my xbox got shut down by that.

After restarting the xbox a couple of hours later (when I got home) I have the weird thing:

When I open a directory using a Samba share (accessing from my Windows computer) it loops back to the root directory of that drive, I got the same problem by connecting to the xbox with Putty from my windows machine and change directory to that specific directory.

So...it looks something like this:
---
\
<cd mnt\fatx\f>
\mnt\fatx\f\
<cd .\SUBDIR1>
\mnt\fatx\f\SUBDIR1\
<cd .\SUBDIR2>
\ (<---It returns back to the beginning)
---

Also some files on the xbox now have the filesize of 0 (empty).

What can I do about this? Normally after a power failure Windows would like to run Chkdsk but after doing an internet search I noticed that there isn't such program (necessary) for linux filesystems.

What can I do to FIX this problem?
and
How can I prevent this from happening again?

I've run sparkle after reading your message but when sparkle was finished I still have the same problem.

Some more ideas I could try?
