Multi-Linux Servers

At the moment I have 1 modified Xbox with Gentoox on it with Apache. I'd like to know if its possible to run multiple Apache servers (using 2 modified Xbox's), so that all the workload is divided by 2 on each Xbox.

Is this what Shallax did to host this website (before the upgrade)? I highly doubt that a single Xbox would be able to handle all this.

Any insight on this would be well appreciated. Maybe a book/tutorial on how to do this?

Why would'nt 1 box do the trick? Are you running Pro? Are you running it in native mode? Do you depend on a lot of pre processing (i.e PHP?). Are you using SQL?

I have no problem serving files both on http and ftp with up to 200Kbps (my ISP capacity). Even with MySQL/PHP.

And even though you would add one more box - you would always get the "cluster overhead" - and probably only gain 10-15% utilization (max).

At least this is what the industry expects most of the time..

One box ran it all. I don't know how to load balance Apache, sorry!
