copying files between partitions

Post by ManReal »

I have a quick question to if this is possible or not. First off just to let you know I didn't do a native install, I just did the install on f: so that I can have space left for my backed-up copies of Xbox games.

I did a home install of 6.1 and it comes with Samba. Here's my problem:

I can access my xbox through my pc with Samba like so "\\xbox\f" however if I were to send something to "\xbox\f\somefolder", is there anyway to get that data back into gentoox?

I was thinking about creating a script for copying the folder '\\xbox\e\somefolder" or "\\xbox\f\somfolder', over into a gentoox folder ** BUT ** can you really copy files from a different partition (e or f) back into the 4 gig partition of gentoox (rootfs and swap are on f)?

Any clarification would be great!

The Xbox's partitions are auto mounted in gentoox in the directory /mnt/fatx if you look in here you will be able to see and use the files you have copied!
