kernel 2.6.16.5 and devfs.

Post by messmaker »

Hi there.
That's not concerning gentoox (running kernel 2.4), but it's a nice question about the new xbox-kernel and the way some application for xbox-linux (like xbox-temp, fanctl, and so on) are programmed.
Well, from kernel 2.6.14 devfs is not still supported. Only udev can be used. Tools like fanctl, who needs i2c driver in /dev/i2c* to work, under this new kernel can't work at all.
Is there a way to link i2c driver to /dev/i2c using udev instead devfs?

newer 2.6 kernels dont use devfs, they use udev, try emerge udev once youve removed devfs emerge
