I Formatted to FatX, did I just break it completely?

So I was messing around with my xbox while I was bored. Had this great idea to install gentoox so I can set mu box up as a web server for me to play with since I don't play xbox games anymore. So I load up the Gentoox loader, run fatx, and it gets to the part where it asked me if i wanted to format and lose everything. I didn't need anything on any of my drives, so I selected yes. After a minute of unmounting/formating it told me to wait for it to halt and then reboot with gentoox.

After everything stopped and it said reboot, I waited a minute just to be sure, rebooted with the gentoox disc in my drive and...Error 14. Figured it must have done something to the drive allowing it to boot, right? I remove the disc...Error 13. I now have a completely unpartitioned, fatx formatted disc, I think... I can boot up games from original discs, but that does me no good, i can't load my evox softmod because I can't put the gamesave on the hard drive.

Did I break my xbox for good if I don't have a mod chip? Or is there some other way to fix it? Also, anyone that is going to post "you should have read the manual" I know I should have, though I did what the on screen prompts told me to do... :P

Sounds like you have just blanked your Xbox hard drive and wiped of your M$ dashboard.
You now need a mod chip so you can put it all back or you need to sell me your xbox on ebay. Or you may still get away with the mechassault TSOP hack http://www.cheesyboofs.co.uk/Site/tutorial02.asp
I’m sorry anyone that puts anything in there Xbox is %100 responsible for it; there is more than enough info on this site, xbox-scene and xbox-linux.org

Howdy

If you have wiped the HD, you dont need a mod chip to fix it

You can still run games and use the gamehacks to get evo or something up

you can then ftp back to the hd, or format if need be

I tried that, but the games won't run the gamehacks from a memory card, so I need a way to get the gamesave to the hard drive. ;)

Cheesyboofs, Will that MA TSOP hack work, or would I need to put the gamesave onto my hard drive like I do with my Splinter Cell hack?

All the gamesave hacks will work, i like splintercell best

go to http://www.xbox-scene.com, has all the information you will need.

You will need to have the hacked gamesave on a memoy card, if you dont already have this, or dont have a friend you could get it off, go buy a usb memory stick and go to http://www.ebay.com and buy a xbox --> usb converter, make sure its not usb --> xbox(lets ya plug controler into computer). then go to xbox-scene and read the tutorial about facking a memory card as a xbox mem card.

Then you can load evo and format the HD via FTP

The gamesave needs to be on the hard drive though... and without a dashboard I can't do that, I'm going to just buy a mod chip.
