Hi,
How do I enable X11 forwarding when connected to my gentoox box via SSH?
The "-X" option doesn't work.
Including these lines (in different compinations enabled/disapled(:
X11DisplayOffset 10
ForwardX11 yes
X11UseLocalhost yes
in "/etc/ssh/ssh_config" doesn't work either.
On my Debian box these things work just fine.
Are there anything gentoox-specific that prevent this from working?

I've edited /etc/ssh/ssh_config and added ForwardX11 yes.
i've then used the -X flag in ssh.
depending on the ssh client you need to enable X forwarding there too.
what X client/server are you using on your PC?
only other suggestion i can think of is messing around with the X Forwarding stuff in webmin, there are quite a few options there.
I'm not sure why it would work on your debian box but not gentoox..

SniperFox - i think what spathi is trying to do is teach people how to actually do things manually so that they get an understanding of how the operating system works.. rather than just click things on a GUI, its all well and good knowing all the GUI's but when things go wrong and X11 wont boot what do you do then.... crap your pants ?

X11 isn't AT ALL required by webmin, what gave you that idea?
What he should really do is teach newbie xbox users to ignore the anti-MS / anti-GUI zealots. "Yeah, there are nice GUI tools, but you really really need to know the ancient command line way of doing things" makes NO sense to your common Linux newbie.

.. if indeed he is a newbie then how does he use his webmin over the network he has no idea how to setup ~
.. i would rather use "ancient command line" than rely on a gui any day
.. dont be arguementative
.. thankyou for the informative dependancies list.. i did not realise that webmin was completely unreliant on x services, but then again i have only used it once
.. bum to you
