ProFTPD login as root doesent accept my PW

Hi

i wish to login

ProFTPd as root

SmartFTP v1.5.988.47
Resolving host name "xbox"
Connecting to 192.168.2.100 Port: 21
Connected to xbox.
220 ProFTPD 1.2.10 Server (ProFTPD Default Installation) [192.168.2.100]
USER root
331 Password required for root.
PASS (hidden)
530 Login incorrect.
QUIT
221 Goodbye.
Server closed connection

but my password is correkt

root/xbox as default

so why does proftp not allow login as root`?

with gentoox/xbox everything is fine but i wish to get access 777 on all files and so i wish to login as root

you cant log in proftpd under root, it wont let you

using ftp = passwords being sent in plain text, and you dont want people seeing your root password

please create a new user and use that for ftp access
