The spca5xx webcam driver

Hi
I am trying to install the spca5xx webcam driver. When I do
emerge spca5xx
I get:
>>> Source unpacked.
* Preparing spca50x module
make: *** No rule to make target `default'. Stop.
If I go into /var/tmp/... manually then I can do make and everything is fine.
Anyone seen this problem before??
