Question about switching from Home 3.1 to 4.0

Post by althena77 »

Hello!!

I have still Home 3.1 installed on my Xbox and happy with it but I am thinking about upgrading to 4.0. What I would like to know before is if I can use later created filesystems to backup things like Configfiles in my homedir.
I have installed Home 3.1 on f and I have created a second filesystem on f called rootfsb. Will this be left untouched when I install Home 4.0 and will I have still access to it after the installation, perhaps by just copying the /etc/fstab entry??
XBox: 1.1
Bios: IND 5003
Gentoox: Home 4.0
Installation: F
RAM: 128 MB

Yes, rootfsb should be left untouched... all you'll need to do is re-add it to your fstab.

Thank you very much for the fast reply :)
Then I guess I will update my Gentoox after one year.

I must say that I am really impressed, I installed/uninstalled/updated many programs, changed many settings, switched from KDE to Xfce and finally to IceWM, let proftpd, Bittornado oder Apache somtimes running for weeks but Gentoox is still running fine as I would have installed it yesterday 8)
