hi,
im having trouble connecting to a gentoo machine via wireless lan laptop. tightvnc viewer connects fine using a desktop, but on the laptop it says:
Failed to connect to server
any ideas?

can you ping to the xbox from your laptop.
Box: XBOX ver 1.1
Mod: Xecutor 2.3 lite+
Hdd: WD 80GB
Dash: Evox, Ava, XBMC
Linux: Gentoox Pro 4.2

it pings fine.
the laptop is connected via a wireless gateway which is then connect to the router. both desktops are connect to the router as well.
do you think the wireless gateway is incorrectly configured?

are you using the java client via your browser? try using the IP addres insetead of the xbox name (if your usng that)

the last post made me doublecheck the ip. i needed to add the port number.

searching for "vnc" on the forums would have answered that faster. glad you could get it working..

I've noticed that you need to revert to v3.3 protocol to vnc if not using java.. RealVNC has a toggle for this.. If current versions of TightVnc do, I can find it..
