cannot unmerge x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r4

Post by jeokeefx »

Hi All ,

This my first post , though I have been visiting these forums for a long time , I have searched through google and the gentoo.org forums and posted there as well on this problem , but have had no luck getting an answer ..

here is the details of my problem ..

I am trying to emerge blackbox , I have put the contents of what is happening below .

Code: Select all

#  USE="-nls" emerge -av blackbox

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[blocks B     ] <x11-base/xorg-x11-6.8.0-r4 (is blocking x11-base/opengl-update-2.1.1-r1)
[ebuild  N    ] media-libs/freetype-2.1.9-r1  -bindist -debug -doc +zlib 969 kB
[ebuild  N    ] x11-misc/ttmkfdir-3.0.9-r2  -debug 19 kB
[ebuild  N    ] x11-base/opengl-update-2.1.1-r1  37 kB
[ebuild  N    ] x11-base/xorg-x11-4.3.0-r6  -3dfx -3dnow -bindist -cjk -debug -doc +ipv6 -mmx -nls +pam -sdk -sse -static +truetype +xml2 53,699 kB [1]
[ebuild  N    ] media-gfx/xv-3.10a-r10  -debug +jpeg +png -tiff 2,257 kB
[ebuild  N    ] x11-misc/commonbox-utils-0.4  98 kB
[ebuild  N    ] x11-themes/commonbox-styles-0.6  103 kB
[ebuild  N    ] dev-util/pkgconfig-0.15.0  596 kB
[ebuild  N    ] x11-wm/blackbox-0.65.0-r3  -gnome -kde -nls +truetype -xinerama 286 kB

Total size of downloads: 58,068 kB
Portage overlays:

Any help would be greatly appreciated .. I am probably going to run a fresh install and remove X from the use flags , but i would still be interested to see what the solution might be ..

Hi,

But commenting out
PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/usr/share/gentoox/portage
you could end up breaking gentoox.

What do you think of reinstalling gentoox and then trying. What ver of gentoox do you have. Cause if you have home, I would rather skip unmerge option or reinstalling. I think only in Pro you have a smaller build and you have the option to install the XServer later, so maybe that will help.

But I think you are in the wrong direction my friend, hope nobspangle or ShallaX helps you out on this one.

hey man thanks for the reply .:)

I have totally started from fresh with a new install to F: latest version of PRO . (1.5)

I did try the command above which was suggested and it didnt break it , I have just tried the command below and it is still running , i think this may be the one to fix it ...

Code: Select all

emerge -u gpm '=sys-libs/db-1.85-r2' libpng freetype xorg-x11 xterm && emerge opengl-update
:) :)

Running magic would probably have fixed this for you.
