how to get component video to work

When i log into gentoox the screen goes all funny
how do i correct that?

As far as I know, unless you're using a progressive scan/HDTV mode (480p,720p, or 1080i), you can't use component cables in any form of Xbox-Linux.
If you do have a HDTV/EDTV, then you can simply run xbvset (either from ssh, or with the composite cables connected to your Xbox) and choose a HDTV resolution that your TV/Monitor supports.
