FTP Rates Slow for 100MBit

Shouldn't I be getting more than 800-900kB/s ftp'ing from my windows box to my xbox? That seems more like 10MBit than 100MBit. Is there something I haven't set up right or is something else limiting the speed to this?

Did you do a nativ install or on Game save partition. Because if not nativ it cant use full 100Mbit,as i heard from someone. If its on Game save the file need to go to fatx, then to rootfs etc... I have this slow speed also until i do a nativ install.

Seems to be better after I emerged (though I don't think I emerged anything that would have been related to ftp). Up to ~2000kB/s now. Still not amazing for 100mbit, but good enough for me =)

Is anyone seeing better than 2MB/s over ftp to a PC?

How do you get 15MB/s over a 100Mbps connection? The theoretical max is only 12MB/s.

Not that I'm calling you a liar or anything.

It's only data I read from iptraf!
It includes overhead, the actual speed averages around 10mb.

And btw its just the way you calculate, at 100MBit the maximum transferrate is 16000kbps that times 1000 then devide by 1024 and there is your 12MB :)

100 divided by 8 is 12.5 therefore 12500000 bytes per second which is 11.92MB/s

I don't know where your 16000 comes from.

I'm also a little confused on where the 16 came from... Dunno if 100MBit means 100,000,000 bps or that times some number of 1024's, but even then 16,000,000/1024 still doesn't make 12...

Anyways, I seem to get varying speeds now and it depends largely on what PC ftp client I'm using. Windows command line ftp will get me 10-11MB/s, which is basically the max, but other clients are slower, sometimes as slow as 5-6MB/s. I've tried flashfxp (though it's an older version of it) and got ~6MB/s and ws_ftp pro is 9-10MB/s.

Also, it seems if I'm transferring a lot of files (~15MB each) occasionally it'll time out and get really slow. One file will transfer at 20-800kB/s and then the next file will be back up to 8MB/s. Not sure why it slows down here and there.
