Reboot (type) with xpad in terminal

Post by mikeraach »

I'm using gentoox pro, do not have a keyboard (dont have the desire to get one) and am just going to ssh into my xbox.

This works great, as long as my computer is on. I can reboot my xbox and then start playing games. BUT if my computer isn't on, it becomes a process just to reboot the damn thing (since just turning it off fuxors the filesystem).

Is there a way I can bind a combination of buttons pressed on the xpad to send a reboot? Or is there a virtual keyboard option in the terminal like there is in xfree that I could type 'reboot'?

Hi,

You can always display words like shutdown, halt on the screen and if you want to do it using the controller, just mark them and hit b :)

maybe shallax would include a trigger for this. Dont know whether you can mess with /etc/inittab to add to the "three finger salute".

hope that helps

If you're using xfce, there's a shortcut in the menu.
