About to pee on the box USB mouse has never worked

Post by aarkvard »

Both Gentoox and the Xebian live CD don't see my wired usb mouse.

The mouse's led is on so it IS recieving power, but rebooting, hot plugging, and installing Gentoox with the mouse plugged in does not find it.

I have also tried:

modprobe usbmouse

with the Xebian live and the command completes but nothing changes. The mouse is just a plain Logitech Optical USB mouse. No hub.

If anyone knows how to make this work, I won't pee on my xbox.

One step further away from urination...

That appears to be a negative. I also tried the "modprobe usbmouse" on Gentoox this time and it says it can't locate the module. I see a file in my /dev folder called usbmouse, is that not it?

if you do
cat /dev/usbmouse
then move your mouse around you should get a load of garbage on your screen, if not then that's not your mouse.
If you keep an open mind, will your brain fall out?
