Green output on RGB cable on Xbox 1.6

Post by FreezeRay »

Hi,

I've just using a RGB scart cable with optical digital audio connector. When booting Gentoox, the screen is green and stays green.

When booting with a composite scart cable (and stereo jacks), Gentoox boots fine in full color.

I've read the Q&A, FAQ's, these forums but couldn't find anything on this subject.

Anybody have an idea? (have tried xbvset, only shows Composite@640x480).

BTW, the screen is clipped. So the right option should be 600x480?

Thanx...

You need to run magic to update the kernel to get component output (480p) on 1.6's. Or you could just download Pro 1.5/ Home 3.2 which has it preinstalled.

no-go on Gentoox home 3.2

Hi Thomas,

I've reinstalled the home version 3.2.

With xbvset I get & choose:

You have a Xcalibur encoder which gives you the following options:
(Note: Composite also works with SCART)

Composite
HDTV

Input: Composite (* If I choose HDTV, the screen is chaotic *)

What TV display mode would you like to use?

640x480

Input: 640x480

What regional mode would you like to use?

PAL
NTSC

Input: PAL

Changing Xfree video mode to: Composite 640x480 - PAL
Updating bootloader to: video=xbox:640x480,nohwcursor,hoc=0,voc=0
Setting XVKBD to: /usr/bin/X11/xvkbd -geometry 640x130+0-81 &
Rebooting in ...

After the reboot, the screen is still very green and clipped from all sides. With my composite cable, I get color, but still a clipped screen.

Is it possible to have it work with RGB/Digital audio?

Ahh wait, I misread your first post... 1.6's dont support scart. You'll have to use the standard RCA composite cables. If you would read the manual youd know you cant fix the overscan issue.

OK

Ok thanx,

I've read the manuals. I thought the overscan issue was related to (selfmade) VGA cables.

Any chance it will be fixed? Or should I stick with Composite with no 5.1 sound?
Is a S-VHS cable an option? I've received messages it will have thesame quality view and can have 5.1 digital out.
